Police cordon in place after woman sexually assaulted in Holbeck Park

An investigation has been launched after a woman was sexually assaulted in Holbeck Park.

It happened at about 4am on Wednesday, May 5 in a wooded area next to the M621.

The investigation is ongoing.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "At 5.34am this morning (5/5) police were contacted by a woman who reported being sexually assaulted by a man in Holbeck Park at about 4am.

"The incident is being investigated by Leeds District Safeguarding Unit and a scene is in place in a wooded area of the park next to the M621 while enquiries into the incident continue.

"Anyone who was in the vicinity of the park and witnessed anything suspicious or who has any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Leeds District Safeguarding Unit via 101 quoting crime reference 13210220774.

"Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
