Police confirm full details as huge Leeds bomb scare incident ends

A bomb scare incident which brought a large part of Leeds city centre to a standstill has come to an end.

Police cordoned off several streets around Park Place after police received a report of a suspicious package at a building in the Queen Street area at around 11am.

Traffic was severely disrupted for several hours, with most roads reopening at around at 2pm.

At 4.30pm, West Yorkshire Police confirmed that the device was not believed to be suspicious.

A spokeswoman said: "West Yorkshire Police officers have been in attendance alongside specialist resources and the device is not believed to be suspicious.

"Thank you to the public for their patience while the cordon was in place."

Companies at City Point include HSBC, Nexus Soliciters and Tilney financial advisors and nearby buildings were also evacuated - including Flawless photography studios at Kikenny House, King Street.

Yorkshire Ambulance incident response units were called in and were waiting on standby on Wellington Street.
