Police catch speeding drivers after setting up cameras in north west Leeds

Police have caught a number of speeding drivers after setting up cameras in north west Leeds.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit were deployed to the area on Monday as part of a city-wide crackdown on dangerous driving.

They targeted roads including Queensway in Yeadon, Westside Retail Park in Guiseley and the A6120 in Horsforth.

Police issued 10 speeding tickets and seized three vehicles.

A spokesperson for the Leeds North West Neighbourhood Policing team said: "Officers from West Yorkshire Police's specialist Roads Policing Unit were deployed to Leeds North West, as part of Operation SPARC.

"The patrol plans were formed using the feedback given to us on a daily basis, from our local communities.

"Key areas targeted included Queensway in Yeadon, Westside Retail Park in Guiseley and the A6120 Horsforth.

"As a result of these patrols, 10 speeding tickets were issued, three vehicles were seized and a number of drivers were pulled over and educated on their manner of driving."

Funded by Leeds City Council in partnership with the police, Operation SPARC has seen extra patrols across the city with officers looking out for people driving dangerously.
