Police catch man walking from Leeds to Stoke on Trent on M621 hard shoulder

Police have caught a man walking from Leeds to Stoke on Trent on the hard shoulder of a motorway,

Officers from the West Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Unit caught a man walking on the M621's hard shoulder on Sunday.

Police said that whilst it was a 'beautiful day for a walk', this man had taken this 'to the extreme'.

The distance from Leeds to Stoke on Trent is 92.1 miles according to Google maps - a distance which would take over an hour and a half to drive.

The man was reported and removed from the network for the offence.

A tweet from the police Roads Policing Unit account said: "It’s a beautiful day for a walk, but our first motorway log for late turn RPU was a male who had taken this to the extreme and was walking on the hard shoulder of the M621.

"He was walking from Leeds to Stoke on Trent.

"Reported for the offence and removed from the network."
