Police are warning about this HMRC phone scam operating in Leeds and Wakefield
Police have issued a warning about an HMRC scam where fraudsters claim an arrest is due to be made for non-payment of tax.
Neighbourhood Watch scheme members from across Leeds and Wakefield have reported receiving recorded telephone messages purporting to be from HMRC.
The message states there is a warrant out for the person's arrest due to non-payment of tax.

A police spokesman said: "Please just hang up, do not press 1 or be tempted to ring any number back it requests you to do. This is a scam.
"The HMRC or any other organisation would not contact you in this way."
