Police appeal over serious sex assault in Leeds nightclub

POLICE have issued a photograph of a man they are trying to trace in connection with a serious sex assault in Leeds last year.

The attack took place more than a year ago but West Yorkshire Police have only issued this appeal today.

A woman was seriously sexually assaulted by an unknown man in a toilet cubicle at the Mint Nightclub, in Harrison Street, in the early hours of the morning between Valentine’s Day and February 15.

He left the club shortly afterwards, leaving the victim who reported the matter to the police.

Police are issuing a picture of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector James Entwistle of Leeds District CID, said: “A number of enquiries have been ongoing into this incident over the last 12 months and extensive enquiries have been ongoing in West Yorkshire and with partner forces.

“We have progressed and exhausted a number of lines of investigation, and are now in a position to issue a picture of a man we would like to speak to in connection with the offence.

“The image was taken in Leeds on February 15 and we have been carrying out enquiries to identify the person pictured.

“This was clearly a very serious offence and I would ask anyone who can identify this man to contact Leeds District CID on 101 referencing police log reference number 13150063231.

“Information can also be given anonymously to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
