A pervert who forced a girl into degrading sex acts has been deemed a danger to children and handed an extended jail sentence.

Thomas Sawyer admitted a string of offences, but only after the victim was forced to give evidence at trial.

Sawyer also sent the girl photos of his penis.

He was given a 15-year sentence at Leeds Crown Court after pleading guilty to five counts of sexual activity with a child, possessing indecent images, distributing images, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and sexual communication with a child.

The court heard that the girl eventually confessed to her parents about the abuse in February of last year.

Police found CCTV evidence of what took place, while 30-year-old Sawyer had an image of a girl as young as six being abused, that he sent to his co-accused.

Referring to the victim of his sexual offences, Judge Ray Singh told Sawyer: “You were profoundly aware of her age. You knew she was well under the age of 16. She was 14.”

He said he would receive no credit or reduction in his sentence due to his late guilty pleas.

Sawyer, of Gannet Close, Castleford, was given a 12-year custodial sentence, with a three-year extended licence period.

He given a lifelong sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) and put on the sex offender register for life.

His co-accused, 23-year-old Kloe Godber, also of Gannet Close, was sentenced last year and given an 18-month community order.

She had admitted two counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and taking an indecent photo of a child.

She was also given a five-year sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) and put on the sex offender register for five years.
