Judge gives Wetherby paedophile voyeur an 'unhappy birthday' by sending him to jail
Pervert sent into custody on his 37th birthday
A pervert who set up a secret camera to watch people undress has been jailed on his birthday.
Simon Hook was given a suspended sentence in 2022, despite also having thousands of indecent images of children in his possession.
He had been handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) to help curb and monitor his internet use, and was put on the sex offender register.
But it failed to deter him, Leeds Crown Court was told.

He appeared in court this week where he admitted possessing prohibited images of children, possessing an extreme pornographic image, breach of his SHPO and breaching the terms of the sex offender register.
Judge Simon Batiste told him: "Today is your 37th birthday. I'm afraid it's not a happy one.
"I made it clear [during his last sentencing] if you breached the order, you would go to prison.”
Prosecutor Jade Edwards said that after his sentence in 2022, police installed software on Hook’s devices that would trigger an alert if he searched for certain terms linked to his sexual habits.
On May 29 last year it flagged that potentially-inappropriate material being searched for at Hook’s home on Woodhill View, Wetherby.
On inspection they found a bestiality image, plus images he had been viewing of naked males on social media.
His search history had been deleted and had logged into Facebook under a different name, both of which he was prohibited from doing.
They also found 130 prohibited images of children, which could be computer-generated images, drawings or cartoons of youngsters that are pornographic in nature.
Mitigating for Hook, James Holding said his client had struggled to get a job because of his previous conviction.
He said he was socially isolated and spent much of his time in his bedroom on the internet.
He said: “It’s abundantly clear that he needs intervention.”
Judge Batiste activated nine months of Hook’s 17-month suspended sentence, and handed him another 12 months, making a total 21 months.
