One driver was sent to court for driving 12 miles over the speed limit.

The driver was driving at 42mph in a 30 zone.

A post on the West Yorkshire Police Leeds North East Facebook page said: "Good morning, we have recently been working with colleagues from Safer Roads in the Alwoodley ward.

"We spoke to 13 motorists for a range of matters from speeding to illegal window tints.

"42 in a 30mph zone was the highest recorded speed and will be going to court #fatal4."

The Alwoodley Ward Councillors have funded the project from Wellbeing Funds initially for a six month trial with the hope of extending it for a further year.
