Nearly 30 drivers caught for offences on one Leeds road over just two December weeks in police operaton

A road in Leeds has seen nearly 30 drivers being caught for offences in just two weeks in December.

PC Senior from the West Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Unit has been proactively deploying to Astley Lane in Swillington in Leeds.

Local concerns in the area proved valid as 26 traffic offence reports were issued for speeding offences in just a two week time frame.

Three vehicles were also seized during the operation for having no insurance and drivers having no license.

On December 6, one driver was reported for fraudulent use of plates, having no insurance, no license and no seat belt.

A post on the West Yorkshire Police - Leeds East Facebook page said: "PC Senior from the Roads Policing Unit has been proactively deploying to Astley Lane, Swillington following the local concerns raised in the area.

"In the last two weeks the following action has been taken;

"26 Traffic Offence Reports issued for speeding offences

"3 Vehicles seized for no insurance and no licence

"One motorist was reported on the 06/12/20 for fraudulent use of plates, no insurance, no licence and no seat belt.

"Please drive responsibly and within the speed limits, don’t risk your life or the lives of others. #WYPTheCost #Fatal4 #YouSaidWeDid"
