Motorcyclist involved in A64 York Road crash after failing to stop for police

It happened shortly before 11.30am on Tuesday.

Police had indicated that the motorcyclist should stop but the rider failed to do so and was involved in a crash with a silver Suzuki car at the junction of York Road and Osmondthorpe Lane a short time later.

The rider and passenger of the motorbike then ran away from the crash.

A 29-year-old man was arrested nearby.

He was taken to hospital but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

A road closure has been put in place on the Leeds-bound carriageway of York Road while the scene is cleared and the vehicles involved are recovered.
