Motorbike rider seen scaring dog walkers and horse riders attempts to escape police

A motorbike rider was caught after attempting to evade officers following reports of dog walkers and horse riders being scared, police said.

Officers in Wakefield were called to reports of a nuisance bike on Sharlston Common on Tuesday (February 23).

When an officer attended, a group of men were spotted with a bike.

The rider of the bike attempted to make off from the scene, police confirmed.

However, they were caught a short distance away.

The bike was seized and the rider will now be prosecuted for a 'variety of offences', police said.

West Yorkshire Police – Wakefield North East and Rural posted: "We had reports yesterday of a nuisance bike scaring dog walkers and horse riders on Sharlston Common.

"Upon the arrival of the Op Matrix Officer, a group of males were seen with a bike.

"The bike (pictured below) tried making off, but the Officer caught it a short distance away.

"The bike was seized and the rider will be prosecuted for a variety of offences."
