Man who sexually attacked woman near Leeds city centre remains at large

Detectives are continuing to investigate a serious sexual assault in Leeds over the weekend.

The attack occurred on an alleyway off Woodhouse Lane in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The female victim was approached by a man described as being in his late 20s who committed the assault.

Luckily, a passer-by came to help, causing her attacker to run off down Woodhouse Lane in the direction of the city centre.

West Yorkshire Police described him as white, of thin build and with short, dark hair.

He was wearing dark-coloured clothing and a baseball cap at the time of the assault at around 1.50am.

A spokesman for the force said on Monday that their enquiries were ongoing into the attack and as of yet, no arrests have been made.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information.

Detective Inspector James Entwistle of Leeds District CID, said on Saturday: “We are conducting a number of enquiries into this serious incident and are supporting the victim who has been left very distressed.

I am appealing for information and witnesses and would like to speak to anyone who saw what took place, or who saw the suspect running away from the scene.

“There were also a number of vehicles driving past at the time and it is possible someone may have seen the suspect or captured footage on a dashcam which could assist the investigation."
