Man stabbed on his doorstep 'while having a cigarette' in Bramley

A Bramley dad was brutally stabbed on his doorstep by a gang of men in the middle of the night.

The man was woken up by fighting in the street in Copper Beech Avenue in the early hours of this morning (Saturday), according to a social media post by a relative.

He then decided to have a cigarette on his doorstep before he was attacked.

The group then entered the house where his children were sleeping, but he managed to get them out and lock the door.

The sister of the victim said he had a large wound to his back and wounds to his face.

The post read: "Tonight my brother was stabbed brutally on his own doorstep. He has a wound running the length of his spine.

"It’s currently being stapled shut - it’s that bad. He’s having CT scans because of the wounds to his face.

"This happened because he was having a cig on the doorstep after being woken up by lads fighting outside his home.

"They then decided to attack him. They entered his home where his 3 children were!! He managed to get them out and lock the door."

The woman told the YEP her brother was now "OK".

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed on Copper Beech Avenue, Bramley.

"Officers were called to the road at around 03.20am this morning to reports of a man being attacked by a number of men.

"The victim was left with serious but not believed to be life threatening injuries."

Detective Inspector James Entwhistle from Leeds CID, said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw any suspicious activity around this time to call police.”
