A young man who sent explicit videos to a young girl said he believed her to be 17.

Brooklyn Mountain had been talking with the young girl, who was just 12, on social media, Leeds Crown Court heard.

The 20-year-old admitted a charge of causing a child to look at sexual activity.

He sent three videos of himself masturabting to the youngster between May and June in 2024.

His offending came to light when the girl’s mother found out about the contact.

Mountain, of George-A-Green Road, Wakefield, initially denied wrongdoing then said he did not know how old she was.

The Crown accepted his claim.

Mitigating, Matthew Harding said Mountain was a panel worker at a garage who worked hard and added: “This whole experience of crown-court proceedings has had an enormous impact on him.”

Judge Neil Clark gave him an 11-month jail sentence, suspended for 18 months.

He ordered him to complete 30 rehabilitation days, 180 hours of unpaid work and put him on the sex offender register for 10 years.
