Man rushed to hospital after being assaulted in Leeds city centre

A man has been taken to hospital for treatment after being assaulted in Leeds city centre.

It happened in the early hours of New Year's Day on Swinegate, near the Cosmopolitan hotel.

Police were called to the scene at 3am after an officer found a man who had been assaulted.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A crime scene was in place this morning on Swinegate as officers investigated the incident.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said there has not yet been any arrests in connection to the incident.
