Man punched and threatened with a machete in Leeds park after refusing to hand over phone

A man was punched and threatened with a machete in a Leeds park after refusing to hand over his phone.

The suspect approached the victim at the Wortley Recreation Ground, in Oldfield Lane, at about 6.15pm on Monday, February 17.

He demanded his phone and when the 38-year-old victim refused, the hooded suspect punched him in the face.

He then threatened him with a machete.

However, the suspect was disturbed and fled the scene empty-handed.

West Yorkshire Police have now released an e-fit image of a man they want to identify.

Officers are appealing for anyone who recognises the man to contact them.

He is described as white, aged 18 to 20, slim and about 5ft 10ins tall.

He was wearing a dark-coloured hoody and dark-coloured bottoms.

Anyone who recognises him or who has any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact PC 3280 Lawson of Leeds District Crime Team via 101 quoting reference 13200086999.
