A man has been attacked by a gang of men during a street brawl in Knottingley.

He was struck with the bat on Grasmere Road at 6.40pm on Friday evening.

The victim, aged 35, is receiving hospital treatment for a serious facial injury.

Several men, one of whom was carrying a baseball bat, were involved in the altercation.

Two men aged 31 and 32 were arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in custody.

Detective Inspector Tom Hilyer of Wakefield CID said:

“We are continue to pursue a number of positive lines of enquiry and our investigation remains ongoing.

“I would ask anyone with further information about what has occurred or who witnessed this incident to get in touch.
