On Tuesday (May 25), PCSO’s Naomi and Laura were called to reports of a male flytipping in Horbury Town Centre, Wakefield.

On arrival the suspect had left and "seemingly decided a mattress and sofa was best placed on Westfield Road rather than dispose of it correctly", police said.

Thanks to excellent photographic evidence and information from a passerby, the officers were able to identify the man.

The PCSO’s asked the man to remove the furniture or be at risk of prosecution from the council who could issue a fine up to £50,000.

He agreed - only for officers to be recalled later in the evening as he had decided to move the furniture to another area less than 100 yards away rather than dispose of it correctly.

Wakefield police said: "He has now been reported to Wakefield Council who will decide on the best course of action."
