Man due in court after teenager stabbed in the back in Leeds street

A man is due in court today after a 19-year-old was stabbed in Headingley.

Matthew Warburton, aged 33, of Chapel Lane, Headingley, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife.

The 19-year-old was stabbed in the back in St Michael’s Lane, Headingley, on Tuesday (19) night.

Warburton is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court today (Friday), where an application will be made to remand him in custody.

He has also been released under investigation in relation to his arrest over an incident in Moor Road, Headingley, on March 9, where a 72-year-old man was stabbed.
