Man accused of murdering his wife at their home in Harehills appears before Leeds Crown Court

A man charged with murdering his wife who was found dead at their home in Harehills has made his first appearance before Leeds Crown Court.

Sajid Parvez appeared before the court via a video link from Armley jail today over the death Abida Karim.

Mrs Karim, 39, was found dead at the couple's house in Hovingham Terrace on thursday, September 24 at about 5.40am.

She was pronounced dead by ambulance staff.

Pervez, 37, spoke only to confirm his name during the brief hearing and the charge was not put to the defendant.

A plea hearing will take place on November 6. A provisional trial date was set for January 25.

Pervez was returned to custody after the hearing.
