"Like wacky races": Two drivers caught speeding at more than 100mph on M62 in West Yorkshire
Two drivers were caught speeding at more than 100mph on the M62 overnight - in a scene described as 'wacky races' by a motorway officer.
The drivers were caught between 2am and 4.30am on Friday morning (May 14).
In a tweet, motorway traffic officer Martin Willis - known on Twitter as 'Motorway Martin' - said: "The #M62 is like wacky races tonight!"
West Yorkshire residents reacted with horror at the incredible speeds recorded.
One said: "Absolutely irresponsible.
"109mph is the equivalent of travelling the length of an Olympic swimming pool...every second.
"Issue is speeding is on the rise and it’s leading to so many unnecessary deaths."
Another added: "Ridiculous.
"I join M62 jct 24 every morning at approx 5.30am and the speeds that I see all the way to jct 29 are mind blowing."
"Ridiculous speeds to be driving at.
"Let me guess, they had to get somewhere urgently."
