Christian Nuakoh, 22, of Beeston, was found guilty of attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child and attempting to incite a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity after a trial. He was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on Monday (September 2).
For the prosecution, Deborah Smithies said that Nuakoh contacted a girl named ‘Amy’ on social media that was being manned by members of the Fleetwood Enforcement Group - a paedophile hunters group.

Nuakoh told her that he wanted to help her with her studies but the conversation became more explicit as he requested pictures and asked whether she was a virgin.
Ms Smithies said: “He was assuring her a lot of girls even younger than her had sex.”

He told the decoy that he loved her and then - following a break in the messages - he told her on July 29 that he “wised he was in bed with her and that one day he could f*** her small a**”.

Nuakoh then moved to Tempest Road in Beeston and invited her to come over on August 1. He was greeted on that day by members of the Fleetwood Enforcement Group, who called the police.
Nuakoh told the police that he believed the girl was 18-years-old and that “when she said she was 11 he didn’t believe her”.

In mitigation the court heard that Nuakoh was on psychotic medication - which he did not disclose to police - and that two doctors’ reports indicated that he had significant mental difficulties.
Judge Andrew Stubbs said that if it wasn’t for the doctors’ reports then Nuakoh would be facing a “lengthy prison sentence”.
He made an order under the Mental Health act for Nuakoh to be admitted to a psychiatric hospital and also placed him under a sexual harm prevention order lasting for 18 years.
Judge Stubbs told him: “Although you don’t realise it you are not very well. What I’m trying to do is get you the proper treatment so that you are well again.”
