A man has pleaded guilty to murdering his wife who was found dead at their home in Harehills.

Sajid Pervez admitted killing Abida Karim when he appeared before Leeds Crown Court earlier today (January 12).

Mrs Karim, 39, was found dead at the couple's family home in Hovingham Terrace on Thursday, September 24 at about 5.40am.She was pronounced dead by ambulance staff.

Pervez, 37, appeared before the court via a video link from HMP Leeds for the plea and trial preparation hearing.

The Recorder of Leeds, Judge Guy Kearl QC adjourned the case until February 19 when Pervez will be sentenced.

Pervez was returned to custody after the hearing.
