Leeds man arrested after grabbing hold of teenage girl under bridge near to Bramley railway station

A court Jamie Peacock left his victim terrified during the incident near to Bramley station on January 21 this year.

Leeds Crown Court heard Peacock, 35, targeted the teenager as she walked under a bridge near to the station at 5pm.

Ian Mullarky, prosecuting, said the teenager was looking at her mobile when she became aware of someone moving in front of her.

She initially thought that the man was a homeless person who wanted to take her phone so she put the device in her pocket.

As she walked past the defendant he put his arm out to stop her going forward then put his arm across her waist and tried to pull her towards him.

Mr Mullarky said: "The complainant was shocked and unable to believe what happened."

She managed to escaped his grip and ran off.

The victim rang her step dad and he arrived in his car a short time later.

The step dad drove around the area with the teenager and she pointed Peacock out in the street.

The step dad got out of the car and approached Peacock.

He asked the defendant what he had been doing told him his step daughter was only 17.

Peacock replied that it was not the first time he had done it and that he wanted a girlfriend.

The step dad contacted police and detained Peacock at the scene.

Peacock, of Poplar Court, Bramley, pleaded guilty to common assault.

He has previous convictions for criminal damage.

A psychiatric report described how Peacock had been diagnosed as suffering from schizophrenia.

He was assessed as being an intelligent man but lacked insight into his offending.

Peacock was made the subject of a 12-month community order during which he must complete 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Judge Robin Mairs said: "She was shocked and understandably terrified."
