Leeds drug dealer caught with £18,000 worth of cocaine, ketamine and cannabis in his car after police chase crash

Kieran Gorman was locked up for 27 month over the incident in Rodley on April 4 this year.

Leeds Crown Court heard West Yorkshire Police officers signalled for Gorman to stop as he was seen driving his Renault Megane without a seat belt.

Carmel Pearson, prosecuting, said Gorman slowed down as if to stop but then sped off along Rodley Lane and Town Street.

He drove at 50mph in built-up 30mph areas and overtook a BMW on a blind bend.

The pursuit continued along CoalHill Lane and Intake Lane where he reached double the speed limit.

The 28-year-old defendant went through red lights on Leeds-Bradford Road.

He managed to get out of the vehicle but was rugby tackled by a police officer moments later.

Ms Pearson said the car was searched and large amounts of class A and B drugs were recovered, including high purity cocaine.

Gorman, of Coal Hill Green, Rodley, was in possession of £160 in cash when he was arrested.

He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and possession of cocaine, ketamine and cannabis with intent to supply.

Mr Turner said his client began taking drugs following the tragic death of his brother and got into debt with dealers.

The barrister said Gorman had previously been attacked and threatened by those who wanted him to become involved in drug supply.

Judge Geoffrey Marson QC also disqualified Gorman from driving for 40 months.

Gorman will face a hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act at a later date.
