A Leeds dad has launched an urgent appeal after his car with stolen - with his 10-year-old daughter inside.

Thomas Williamson, 40, said his wife and daughter were sat in the family's orange Nissan Note this morning at 8.17am ready to leave.

After de-icing the car, Thomas' wife briefly stepped back inside their home just yards away on Stone Bridge Grove in Farnley to get her phone which she had forgotten.

Seconds later, a man jumped into the driver side of the vehicle - number plate SY57YBJ.

However, Thomas' daughter was still inside the vehicle and screamed as the driver attempted to escape.

She got out of the car before the man crashed into another vehicle and fled the scene.

The police have launched an appeal for any information regarding the theft of the vehicle.

The force confirmed officers had been called at 8.17am to reports of the theft.

The vehicle was driven away heading in the Wortley Ring Road direction, police said.
