Leeds bar which shut due to lockdown smashed up by hammer-wielding thieves who made away with charity boxes

Everybodys bar in Guiseley shut on March 20th in line with the government request.
All stock was locked away and cash was banked, with only essentials left on site.

Hide AdStaff told the Yorkshire Evening Post that two big notices were placed on the door which said "No stock or cash left on premises".
However, on Saturday April 4, staff were made aware by police of a break in.
Brazen burglars had smashed through the front door with a hammer and triggered the alarm.
The thieves made off with charity boxes and till draws with a total content of just £18 in them.

Hide AdThe cost of the damage is likely to be between £1500-2000, managing director Adam Lewis told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Morrison's supermarket stepped in to help with securing the bar - an 'amazing gesture' according to Adam.
Adam said: "The best thing to come out of the situation was Morrison’s and their staff who were amazing, we had no relationship with them before this but this is what the true spirit of the community
"The Morrison’s head baker Brendan on his way into work was the person who spotted the suspicious behaviour before the break in and called it into police meaning they were on the scene within minutes

Hide Ad"Morrison’s community champion came out and sorted coffees out for us and the Paul general manager got his staff to secure the entrance and gave us their contact for a glazier as we could not find one working.
"We put a post on our Facebook and were blown away by the support and response."
