Leeds A&E worker can’t get to work after car written off with firework

The support worker, who wants to remain anonymous, said she has been told her car is probably going to be ‘a write off’ after a firework was thrown under it.

It happened at her home in Tingley, having only recently moved there to be away from her high risk parents who she was living with before.

She is currently isolating after being in contact with someone with Covid-19, but is concerned about how she is going to get back to work after the isolation period.

She said: “I won’t get anywhere near the money back that I have just spent on it so I can’t go back to A&E until I can sort something else.

“I am so upset right now. I am absolutely heartbroken.”

The incident occurred on November 2 at around 6pm.

West Yorkshire Police said: “Shortly after 6pm on Monday (2/11) police received a report of a Volkswagen Sharan being damaged in Westerton Road, Tingley.

“It is believed a firework was set off underneath the vehicle.

“An offence of criminal damage has been recorded and anyone with information that could assist in identifying a suspect is asked to contact officers via 101 quoting crime reference 13200549442 or online via www.westyorkshire.police.uk/101livechat.”
