Illegal immigrant burgled Airbnb flats in Leeds city centre to steal TVs
An immigrant deported from the UK was later caught burgling Airbnb apartments in Leeds and stealing TVs.
Failed asylum seeker Ladislav Kavur was jailed this week for the string of break-ins at the rentable dwellings on The Headrow, opposite Leeds Town Hall.
Appearing at Leeds Crown Court, he admitted two dwelling burglaries, one attempted burglary and handling stolen goods.
In January, the owner of the apartments found the lock boxes containing the keys had been smashed and the keys taken.

He checked and found TVs were missing along with coffee-making machines.
CCTV was checked and Kavur and another man were spotted arriving outside in a taxi two days prior, entering the building and leaving with a large TV each.
Five days later CCTV picked up four men attempting to get into another apartment in the same block, but were confronted by the owner.
The others ran, but Kavur was grabbed and detained until the police arrived.
The 47-year-old was found with a balaclava and two bank cards that were not in his name. He gave a no-comment interview to police.
The total loss to the owner came to £2,160.
Kavur, of no fixed address, appeared in court over a video link from HMP Leeds.
He has one previous convictions for two offences, a dwelling burglary and fraud from 2024. He was later deported as a result.
Mitigating, Olivia Fraser said his strongest point was his early guilty pleas to his latest offences.
She said his application to remain in the UK had been refused. She added that his wife was ill with cancer.
Ms Fraser said: “He is fully aware of the position he finds himself in. He remains concerned for his wife and her wellbeing.”
The judge, Recorder Andrew Haslam KC jailed him for 27 months.
