Horsforth murder accused Carl Chadwick appears at Leeds Crown Court over death of Sarah Keith
A man accused of murdering a woman at her home in Horsforth has appeared before Leeds Crown Court.
Carl Chadwick, 35, is charged with murdering 26-year-old Sarah Keith at her flat on Broadway on Tuesday April 13.
Chadwick appeared before the court via a video link from HMP Leeds.
The charge was not put to the defendant and the case was adjourned for a plea hearing on July 12.
He spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.
Chadwick's barrister, Mark McKone, asked that the case be adjourned to allow for reports.
A provisional trial date was set for December 6.
Judge Geoffrey Marson QC told Chadwick he will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
Ms Keith's family issued a statement after her death, saying: “Sarah was a kind and loving mother, daughter and sister.
"She always put a smile on everyone’s face.
"Losing her has left us all feeling so sad and hurt”.
Flowers were placed outside the block of flats in Broadway.
A message on one bunch of flowers read: "Too young. Too soon. Too sad."
Another message read: "Rest in eternal peace."
