Thug repeatedly punched man who called time at Wakefield social club in 'horrible' assault
A teenage thug repeatedly punched a man at a social club who he helped call time at the bar near closing time.
Layton Travers viciously assaulted the man without provocation at the Rockware Sports & Social Club.
The victim fell during the attack and badly broke his ankle, leaving him requiring two rounds of surgery.
Travers admitted a charge of Section 20 GBH without intent at Leeds Crown Court.
The victim, who has been a regular at the Knottingley club on Weeland Road for more than 20 years, had been playing snooker on the night of June 30 last year.

At around 11pm, he was asked by staff to tell those outside that it was near closing time and they needed to close the beer garden area.
The man went outside and shouted for drinkers to come in. Travers was with a friend, and he approached the victim and began throwing punches at him with both hands.
Hitting him to the head repeatedly, the man fell awkwardly, injuring his ankle.
Travers then left the area. The man was found to have a three-point fracture to his ankle and ruptured ligaments.
He required surgery to insert pins.
The incident was captured on CCTV. Travers, 19, was arrested but refused to answer police questions. He has no previous convictions.
Mitigating, Christopher Morton said Travers, of Waterfront Apartments, Knottingley, worked as a civil engineer and his partner was expecting a baby.
The judge, Recorder Ella Anderson said she had “concern and disgust” at what she saw on the CCTV footage from the club, describing it as a “horrible attack”.
She handed him a 20-month sentence, suspended for 18 months, with 150 hours of unpaid work, 15 rehabilitation days and a 90-day alcohol monitoring tag.
He was also ordered to pay £5,000 compensation to the victim and given a five-year restraining order.
