Headingley and Adel police patrols: Speeding driver and child passenger caught with no seatbelt

Police caught a speeding driver and a child passenger who were not wearing seatbelts during speed checks around north west Leeds.

The driver was stopped on Iveson Drive in LS16 on Friday.

Weetwood officers attended the location with a speed gun after local residents reported vehicles driving above the 20mph section of the road which runs outside a school.

Police found 10 vehicles driving over the speed limit between 26 and 32mph during the patrol.

They also conducted speed checks on Ash Road in Headingley where three vehicles were caught driving at between 26 and 28mph.

Officers said they will be continuing their speed checks in these areas in the coming weeks.

The West Yorkshire Police north west Leeds team revealed what had happened on social media: "On Friday, Weetwood Officers attended with the speed gun to more locations suggested by local residents.

"On Iveson Drive in LS16, residents reported vehicles driving above the 20 MPH section of the road which runs outside of a local school.

"10 Vehicles were seen to be doing between 26- 32MPH.

"Officers also stopped one speeding vehicle and found that neither the driver, nor the child passenger were wearing seatbelts!

"Speed checks were also conducted on Ash Road in Headingley, where 3 vehicles were seen to be doing between 26-28MPH.

"Officers are continuing to conduct speed checks in the coming weeks."
