The dentists, practice team and patients at Compton Road Dental Practice are being transferred to another practice at Chapeltown Road.

Both are run by mydentist, which claims to be Europe's largest dental provider.

A letter to patients read: "We are writing to you as a patient of Compton Road Dental Practice in Leeds to inform you that due to increasing anti-social behaviour in the area, the dental practice will be relocating from 29 November 2019.

"We will still be providing NHS services within the local area, and as a patient you will be transferring to one of our sister practices nearby in Leeds.

"This decision has not been taken lightly and we are very sorry for an inconvenience that the relocation of services may cause.

"We can assure you that the safety of our patients and staff are at the heart of this decision."

Mydentist did not provide an indication of the scale of the problem or how long it had been going on for when asked.

All courses of open treatment should be completed or transferred to the new practice by November 30, the letter said.

Patients were told that if they do not want to transfer, there are other NHS practices accepting new patients 'across the wider area'.

There are two surgeries accepting new adult and child patients within a one mile radius of Compton Road - Jem Dental Care and mydentist Skinner Lane - according to website NHS Choices.

The letter added: "Once again, we are sorry that we have had to take this decision and we thank you for supporting the practice over the years."

A spokeswoman for mydentist said: "On 29th November our practices on Compton Road and Chapeltown Road in Leeds will merge.

"Patients are being informed of the merger, with arrangements being made to transfer all patients from Compton Road to Chapeltown Road.

"There will be no disruption to patient care during the practices merging."
