There were still three police cars and two ambulances at the scene at 8.00pm on Saturday evening after police received reports at 6.40pm that a car was on its side after crashing into a lamppost.

Members of the public assisted in getting the two people who were trapped in the car at the junction of Shadwell Lane and the A6120 Ring Road out.

Police confirmed that when they arrived, nobody was left in the vehicle.

There is currently no suggestion of any serious injuries.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "We received reports at 6.40pm that a car was on its side after colliding with a lamppost at the junction of Shadwell Lane and the Ring Road.

"Members of the public had been assisting with getting the people out of the vehicle and were able to do so with ease.

"On police arrival, it was confirmed that nobody was left trapped and a front seat driver and passenger were out of the car safely.

"There is currently no suggestion of any serious injuries."
