Ex Leeds Rhinos player Richie Mathers' car keyed by Roundhay Park

A former Leeds Rhinos player has warned people to "be vigilant" after his car was damaged near Roundhay Park.

Fullback Richard 'Richie' Mathers posted on social media about the incident, which happened while he was walking his dog.

His car was keyed on the road outside Roundhay Golf Club in Park Lane today (Wednesday).

Leeds-born Mathers, 36, posted on Twitter: "Just got back to car from walking the dog between 8.50am - 10am to find some absolute scumbag has keyed all down one side and other side of my car.

"Car parked outside Roundhay Golf Club on main road.

"Be vigilant and keep an eye out.

"What happened to #BeKind."

Mathers started his rugby league career at amateur rugby league club Milford Marlins and East Leeds before rising through the ranks at Leeds Rhinos, where he was part of the 2004 Championship-winning side.

He announced is retirement while playing for London Broncos in 2015 before signing a one year deal with Bradford Bulls in 2016.

He also played for Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Castleford Tigers, Wakefield Trinity, as well as internationally for England.
