Emergency services cordon off Leeds road after man stabbed in street attack

Emergency services have cordoned off a section of Freemantle Place in Halton Moor.

Police attended Bowland Close shortly after 1pm today to reports of a man being seriously injured in a street attack by a group of men.

Further enquiries led officers to Freemantle Place where they found a man in his 20s who had suffered a head injury and stab wound to his body.

He is in a serious condition in hospital.

One man aged 19 has been arrested on suspicion of assault, police said.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Police were called to Bowland Close, Leeds at about 1.16pm today (July 6) to a report a man had been seriously injured in an assault in the street by a group of males.

"Further enquiries led officers to Freemantle Place.

"Emergency services attended and found a man in his 20s who had suffered a head injury and a stab wound to his body.

"He was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which are serious but not at this stage believed to be life threatening.

"Initial enquiries into the incident remain ongoing and anyone who saw what happened or has any information is asked to contact Leeds District CID on 101 or online at www.westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk/101livechat referencing crime number 13200337682.
