Drunken Leeds thug on four-day drink and drugs bender threatened to throw acid in ex's face

He bombarded her with calls and messages

A drunken thug make a sick threat to throw acid in his ex partner’s face so that “nobody would look at her again”.

Marvin Tomlinson made the terrifying comment after refusing to leave her alone following their split.

He bombarded her with calls, making 24 in less than two hours, and said he would smash her car up and blow up the house.

The 30-year-old admitted stalking with a fear of violence and criminal damage and was handed a suspended sentence at Leeds Crown Court.

He appeared over a video link from HMP Leeds, having been held on remand since his arrest in the summer.

Tomlinson had been in a relationship with the woman for around 13 years and they had two children together, but it turned sour because of his excessive drinking.

She ended the relationship around March time, but Tomlinson would continue to pester her, usually while in drink.

He would turn up at her home intoxicated, would call her frequently and leave aggressive voice messages.

On one occasion, he rang her 11 times from a no-caller ID and he would hang up when she answered.

He then moved to WhatsApp and rang her 27 times in less than two hours and left 12 voice notes.

Tomlinson then rang her another 57 times, made the sickening comment about the acid attack and called her vile names.

He was eventually arrested, and later bailed under strict conditions not to contact the woman.

But on August 14 he rang her, telling her he was coming to her home in east Leeds and when he arrived, he began to kick the door. He only left after an hour.

The next day, he went to the home again and and put his fist through a window.

Tomlinson, of no fixed address, handed himself in at Elland Road Police Station three days later.

He gave a largely no-comment interview, but said he had been on a four-day drink and drugs “bender”, and conceded the effect his behaviour would have had on his ex.

He has three convictions for seven previous offences.

Mitigating, Ella Sides said it had been a short period of offending and that Tomlinson had struggled to come to terms with the break up.

She added: “Drink is quite clearly an issue.

“He had truly gone into self destruct mode. He has accepted what he did was wrong.”

She said that he was also showing symptoms of ADHD and required screening.

Judge Penelope Belcher gave him a 20-month sentence, suspended for 24 months with a probation requirement, a nine-month drug-rehabilitation requirement and a 120-day alcohol abstinence monitoring requirement.
