Driver who stopped in live M62 lane to change tyre slammed by motorway officer

A driver who stopped his car in a live lane of the M62 to change his tyre has been slammed by a motorway officer.

The driver stopped on Friday night (May 21) as he had a flat offside tyre.

However, he was just 300 yards from safety, motorway officer Martin Willis said.

The officer urged other drivers in a similar situation to reduce their speed, put their hazard lights on and get to a refuge area.

PC Willis tweeted: "The driver of this vehicle stopped in a live lane as he had a flat offside tyre and then attempted to change it, 300 yards from safety.

"If you get a flat on an all lane running motorway, reduce speed, put hazards on and get to a refuge area!

"A wheel can be replaced, you can't!!"
