The man was being pursued after failing to stop for officers, with the chase culminating in the Renault Scenic getting stuck in the ditch behind a building.

Pc Martin Willis, a West Yorkshire Police road officer, said they were trying to catch up with the car on Manchester Road in Bradford when the incident happened on Sunday.

The car had sped off away from the officers before veering off the road and getting stuck.

Despite this, the driver managed to jump out and ran from the scene, with officers unfortunately unable to keep up.

Tweeting about the getaway, Pc Willis said: "Some drivers will go to extreme lengths to avoid having to speak to us."
