Driver clocked doing more than 80mph in a 40mph zone in Leeds

The Leeds North West Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) were conducting speed checks around Guiseley, Yeadon and Adel.

Several motorists were pulled over and spoken to about their speeds, and tickets were issued in some cases.

The motorist caught speeding at 81mph will face court action, according to the NPT's Facebook page.

In a post, the team said: "Yesterday afternoon and evening, we conducted some speed checks in Leeds North West.

The main areas of action were Guiseley, Yeadon and Adel.

"A number of motorists were pulled over and spoken to in regards to their speed, with tickets issued where necessary.

"The highest speeder was seen to travel at a staggering 81mph in a 40mph zone.

"The consequences of driving at a speed like this could have been devastating for all involved.

"The driver will have chance to explain their actions in court."
