Bryan Williamson spotted the vandalism during a walk this morning.

He told the YEP he was "appalled".

Bryan posted the picture in a local Facebook forum and said: "I cannot believe that after months of being denied the opportunity to enjoy life to the max and our council striving to ensure the best facilities are in place to resume a more "normal" lifestyle, some find it appropriate to sabotage what has been achieved, causing additional distress, inconvenience and expense.

"This is the recently upgraded children's play area on Swinnow Moor after someone's "little bit of fun" has spoiled the area for everyone else."

One said: "This is just disgusting, so many families use the park and it has only recently been re-done."

Another added: "Such a shame, the much needed refurb really made this a nice place to take your kids."

Pudsey Councillor Dawn Seary added: "It is disappointing to see the recent fire damage to Swinnow Moor play park after the recently investment to the area.

"Council officers will be attending to clean the area and check the equipment for damage.

"As councillors, this will not stop us from making more improvements across Pudsey, Swinnow or Tyersal, we all deserve the best for our home town and a small minority will not stop it."
