Hide AdJudge Andrew Stubbs QC said: "You had an upbringing that nobody could wish for.
"Because of those difficulties and because you were young at the time, I am going to do something I never expected to do.
"I thought that you would be going to custody for a period that was going to be measured in years.
"What you did was terrible. However your life has been until now, it does not give you a right to kick anyone in the head.
"What you did was disgusting, disgraceful and dangerous."
Judge Stubbs added: "You are 18 now. You are not a child.
"The chances you are given will run out.
"I am giving it to you on the basis that we will not meet again.
"If you breach it you will come back before me and you won't get another chance."
