Dewsbury heroin and crack dealer jailed after investigation by West Yorkshire Police's county lines squad

Mobusher Ahmed, 27, from Westtown, was sentenced to five years and six months at Leeds Crown Court on Friday December 11 after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply drugs including heroin and crack cocaine and money laundering.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police’s Kirklees Programme Precision raided his home in July and found heroin valued at just under £39,000 and crack cocaine worth £21,000 as well as £10,160 in cash.

He was arrested a few days after the operation and remanded in custody after being charged with drug and money laundering offences.

The operation to catch Ahmed was one of a series of investigations carried out by Programme Precision which is the force’s ongoing initiative to combat organised crime.

Precision officers are embedded within each district of West Yorkshire and work with colleagues to investigate all manner of organised crime including County Lines-style offending.

Detective Inspector Di Johnson of the Kirklees Programme Precision Team said: “We welcome the sentencing of Mobusher Ahmed who has been heavily involved in drugs crime both in Dewsbury and in wider West Yorkshire.

“Officers located tens of thousands of pounds worth of drugs and cash in his bedroom.

“The amount of evidence recovered and meticulous enquiries by investigation team allowed officers and CPS colleagues to build a substantial criminal case against him, resulting in his guilty plea.”

Detective Superintendent Carl Galvin added: “Precision was established to crack down on individuals exactly such as Mobusher Ahmed who are involved in organised crime which affects residents far from the towns in which criminals base themselves.

“Through Programme Precision the force works with working together with local, national and international partners to fully penetrate and then pull apart organised crime networks, targeting those involved at every level.

“We are working to make West Yorkshire a hostile environment for criminals such as Ahmed and continue to appeal for anyone who has information about drugs crime in their communities to contact us.
