Dealer who ran profitable double Wakefield drugs lines is locked up

A dealer who orchestrated two drugs phone lines supplying deadly heroin and crack cocaine has been jailed.

Ali Jones was responsible for stocking up on drugs and directing street dealers to meet with addicts wanting to buy, Leeds Crown Court heard.

He was handed a 52-month jail sentence, having been convicted of supplying Class A drugs in the past.

The court heard that police executed a warrant at Jones’ address in Wakefield in January and seized an iPhone and £205 in cash.

It was found that Jones was in charge of what had been nicknamed the “Max Lines”, numbered one and two.

One of those drug lines was still active, prosecutor Emily Thorbjornsen told the court.

More than 13,000 Messages were found on the phone related to drugs. They included Jones telling drug users that he was waiting for a driver and what stock he had.

Jones, of Finkle Street, Pontefract, later admitted two counts of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

The 26-year-old has three previous convictions for eight offences, including dealing in drugs.

He appeared in court over a video link from HMP Leeds.

Mitigating, Soheil Khan said: “Having been released after his last sentence, having embarked on a course to start working on the railways, came across old acquaintances who reminded him about a debt he had accrued. The weakness was his.

“His only mitigation is he has had the good sense to plead guilty at the first opportunity.

“He knows his apology must not be lip service and will only count when following his release, he does not trouble the courts again.

“There’s nothing else I can say positively on his behalf.”

Judge Robin Mairs pointed out that Jones was only jailed in November 2024 for dealing and added: “It must have been very shortly after those offences did you commit these ones.”

He said both drug lines were tied to Jones and that the amount of messages “indicates the scale of drug trafficking that was going on”.

He added: “It was a busy and productive and commercial trade in Class A drugs.”
