Convicted Leeds rapist sent back to prison for ignoring stringent court orders
Judge said defendant never accepted terms of his sentence
A child rapist has been jailed after failing to tell police where he was living and using a phone that hid his internet history.
Jack Barratt admitted breaches linked to the sex offender register, and to a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) he was given in light of his rape conviction.
The 20-year-old had been initially jailed in 2024 but freed on appeal and handed a three-year community order instead, after his victim had told him she was 16 when she was in fact younger.
Despite his reduced sentence, he remained on the sex offender register and given the five-year SHPO.
He appeared at Leeds Crown Court this week where he admitted two breaches of the register after failing to inform police of his change of address within an allotted time.
Barratt, who had previously lived in Seacroft but is now of no fixed address, also admitted three breaches of the SHPO after he was found to have obtained a phone that hid his location and his internet history.

The court heard that on May 5 police had stumbled across Barratt in the rear seats of a car with a female in the early hours of the morning, parked up at a reservoir near Manchester.
Mitigating, Holly Clegg said he “wanted to change his life around” and “wanted support from probation”.
She said he was frustrated because their assistance was limited, and said Barratt had not had chance to be rehabilitated.
The court was told he himself had suffered severe childhood traumas.
But Judge Christopher Batty said Barratt continued to defy the law.
He told him: “You do not take responsibility for that offence [the rape].
“You do not consider yourself to be a sex offender and don’t see any reason why there should be any restrictions upon you.
“It has to be immediate custody. This was a significant breach.”
He jailed him for 30 months.
