Burglars steal Rolex watches and diamond rings after smashing into Leeds couple's home

Police today issued CCTV images of a suspect they urgently want to identify over the burglary in Bardsey on July 31.

The victims, a man and woman in their sixties, were asleep at their home when a group of men smashed their way into the property shortly after 11pm.The couple were assaulted and forced to hand over a quantity of high value jewellery before the suspects fled the scene.

The male victim suffered significant facial injuries that required hospital treatment, West Yorkshire Police said.The stolen jewellery included a white gold solitaire 3-carat diamond ring, a pair of white gold 1.1-carat diamond earrings, a blue diamond crossover ring with a white gold band and regular diamonds, a white gold chain, a stainless steel Rolex watch with a black face and black bezel, another stainless steel Rolex watch with a black face, and a white gold rope bracelet with three charms of different golds.Four men and a woman, aged 19 to 34, have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been released pending further enquiries.Detective Sergeant Ciaran Burns, of Leeds District Crime Team, said: “This was an absolutely terrifying ordeal for the victims to be violently attacked like this in their own home and we urgently need to identify the man shown in the CCTV images.“We have made a number of arrests and our enquiries into the incident are progressing but we are still keen to identify this man.”He was described as white, about 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins tall, aged in his mid-twenties, and of stocky build.
