BMW smashes into 'several cars' in Leeds city centre after police chase car full of suspected drugs

Police are searching for the driver of a car which was abandoned in Leeds following a police chase.

Suspected drugs were found in a car which was abandoned on Graingers Road on Tuesday afternoon.

The black BMW 320 had been chased by police through Leeds city centre after it failed to stop for police on Dewsbury Road at about 1.13pm.

The car hit barriers on Queen Street during the chase and 'several cars' were hit by the BMW according to police.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Enquiries remain ongoing today after officers recovered a quantity of suspected drugs from a car in Leeds yesterday.

"Officers recovered the suspected drugs from a car found abandoned on Graingers Road yesterday afternoon.

"The vehicle, a black BMW 320, had been pursued by police in Leeds City Centre after failing to stop for officers on Dewsbury Road at about 1.13pm.

"Several cars are understood to have been damaged by the suspect vehicle during the incident, and police have been speaking with affected drivers.

"The driver of one of the cars, suffered back pain as a result of the incident but no other injuries were reported.

"Anyone who saw the car being abandoned on Grainger Road shortly before 1.20pm is asked to contact the Eastern area Roads Policing unit on 101 referencing police log 499 of 20 November."
