Beeston driver arrested after police officer smells 'strong' cannabis coming from car

A driver has been arrested after an off duty police officer reported a 'strong' smell of cannabis coming from a car in Leeds.

The officer told West Yorkshire Police that occupants were smoking in the vehicle on the Ring Road in Beeston.

Officers from the roads policing unit went and stopped the car and said that the driver failed a roadside drugs test.

Police found cannabis and arrested the driver.

The West Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Unit tweeted: "Ring Rd, Beeston- Vehicle sighted by off duty officer who called reporting strong smell of Cannabis from vehicle and occupants smoking.

"Our unit stopped the vehicle, driver failed roadside drugs wipe test and Cannabis found. Arrested. #neveroffduty #fatal4 #team4."
