'Banned from Bramley': Jealous Leeds dad jailed and handed restraining order over threats to kill ex-partner's new boyfriend and posting sick Facebook lies

A jealous dad who threatened to kill his ex-partner's new boyfriend and 'sever his body into pieces' has been sent to prison.

Ryan O'Donnell also made sick unfounded Facebook allegations about his rival during a three-month campaign of harassment.

O'Donnell was locked up and handed a restraining order which includes banning him from entering the Bramley area of Leeds for the next ten years.

Ian Hudson, prosecuting, said O'Donnell had been in a relationship with the victim for around 12 months and they have a child together.

The relationship ended in 2016 and the defendant received a caution for harassing her in 2017.

O'Donnell committed an offence of criminal damage in 2018 and was made the subject of a non-molestation order banning him from making threats to the woman.

He breached the order in 2019 and his latest offending against the victim and her new partner began in August last year.

The 33-year-old sent a message to the victim's partner stating: "You better not go near my daughter or I will come for you."

Another message read: "Do you value your life? I will kill you with my bare hands when I find out where you live."

He also sent a message threatening to "sever his body into little pieces".

A Facebook message on August 15 read: "If I get his address he is dead."

The defendant posted pictures of the man on Facebook, accusing him of being a child abuser and offering to pay for information about him.

The court heard social services have no concerns about the other man.

O'Donnell, of no fixed address, was arrested and made no comment when he was interviewed.

He pleaded guilty to two offences of causing fear of violence by harassment.

The woman and her new partner provided victim statements to the court describing the distress they had been subjected to.

She described how she has moved out of her home of 13 years to somewhere O'Donnell will not be able to find her. She also suffered from depression and anxiety.

Her partner described how he has a disability and his condition had been made worse.

She said: "He accepts that he has gone about this the wrong way.

"He has got some mental health issues and readily accepts that he has not helped himself by going on to drugs and alcohol."

Judge Penelope Belcher jailed O'Donnell for 27 months.

He was made the subject of a ten-year restraining order banning him from contacting the woman.

The order also bans O'Donnell from entering Bramley in Leeds.
